A blown transformer led to a fire at the Norfork Dam Friday morning. A Facebook post from the Salesville Fire Department states minimal damage was caused to the structure, and no one was injured.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, a deputy observed smoke coming from within the power house below the dam just before 10:30. The Salesville Fire Department arrived shortly before the deputy and dispatched additional emergency personnel.

An investigation revealed a transformer blew, causing a ladder to fall and hit some electrical boxes. The fire was reportedly rekindled after 11 and soon extinguished.

Salesville was assisted by the Norfork Fire Protection District, the Tracy Fire Department, the Rodney Jordan Fire District, the Buford Fire Department and the Lone Rock Volunteer Fire Protection District.
